The @wwwgiuseppearcuricom Profile
Introducing, Giuseppe Arcuri.
Intro
Welcome back. I’m Jon and this is SL Selects, the weekly newsletter from Second Lake.
This week, we’ve been blessed with a great profile from one of my favorite people on the gram. Formerly known on IG as FFFFounded, friend of SL, Giuseppe Arcuri is here to walk us through some of his essentials.
Giuseppe and I go back only a little bit, with some of the first conversations kicking back to the beginning of 2022. The majority of those conversations being on product design, places to visit in Montréal (thanks again, G), illustration, and a bunch more.
From my perspective, Giuseppe and I overlap each other’s approaches to design and fashion in many ways. I think that’s how we were able to link so easily and it made the decision to bring him onto the newsletter all the more easier.
I’m excited for this one.
Without further ado, let’s get into it!
Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Giuseppe Arcuri, and I’m born and raised in the beautiful city of Montréal. I’m currently studying graphic design and in the process of teaching myself how to sew. Ideally, I’m trying to very slowly turn my Instagram page into an actual brand.
GA brand. Very slowly.
What’s one place everyone should visit?
I haven’t been to many places, but I love my city. It has a lot to offer, especially for the creative folks. Montréal or Sicily, those are my current recs.
If you happen to find yourself in Montréal, head down to the Saint-Henri area. Grab yourself a coffee at either Campanelli’s or Cordova’s and later on, after you’re done seeing all the cool shops, enjoy a fantastic meal at my all time favourite restaurant in the city, Stem Bar.
What’s one essential clothing item for you and why?
Crewnecks with a v-notch. I’m not sure when my obsession with the v-notch started, but anytime I see one at a thrift store, it plays with my heart strings. The Real McCoy’s makes some killer ones and owning one from them is up there on my bucket list.
What’s one essential non-clothing item for you and why?
My handy dandy SLR 35mm camera. I write journals and post them on my website and the cover photos are all taken with this camera. I’m able to capture moments that mean something to me and go back to them whenever I want to feel nostalgic. Currently, I’m on the market for a point and shoot so if you’re reading this, send some recs.
What footwear would be in your top 3 of all time?
These are my current top 3 shoes.
Sad story with the ASICS, I accidentally left them near my heater and when I woke up in the morning, they caught a tan. Most comfortable pair of shoes I own.
For the Sambas, as you can see, I bought these YEARS ago and I’m still holding on to them because I can’t throw them out, my heart won’t allow it. These are probably going to be my favourite style of shoes until I’m an old man and transition to just wearing slippers. I currently only wear them whenever I have a painting job with my dad, and he doesn’t understand my attachment to them.
Next are the Premiata shoes. Bought in Sicily and still haven’t found an occasion to wear them, they’re like a piece of art to me.
Any personal grails?
This hoodie from The Real McCoy’s.
Current fragrance? If any.
Prada Black that was gifted to me by a close friend.
Tell us an underrated brand or person you enjoy.
On Instagram, there’s an account called Goodship that is currently posting a piece of furniture a day and they’re beautiful.
Favorite song or record?
Andrea Bocelli - Con Te Partiro. I used to run around my house as a kid singing it and I’d be lying if I said I stopped doing it.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee, black.
Pencil or pen?
It may be controversial but, permanent marker.
Reality or fiction?
Fiction.
Anything you’d like to plug, go ahead. The floor is yours.
Thanks for having me on Jon, this was fun.
Outro
Lovely. Massive thank you to Giuseppe for coming through and giving us a peek into GA. Truly happy to have been able to share this platform with yet another friend of SL.
Means everything.
As per usual, thanks for reading and I’ll see you in 7 days.
