Intro
If you hadn’t noticed already, it’s the holiday season. Retailers are chopping prices, getting into the festive spirit, and plenty of publications and internet voices seem to be dropping their gift guides. So, are we jumping on the bandwagon? Yup. But don’t expect the usual—ours is going to be a little different. We decided to ask a few friends of the SLS for a single gift recommendation and some words to go with it! So you’ll be getting the SLS guest-curated gift guide. How sweet!
Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
@jcrossa.us - Aesop / MUJI Room Fragrances
‘Having recently moved into a new space, I’ve been made aware of just how important it is for the area to feel inviting and warm. Having a good fragrance that isn’t overwhelming really sets the tone of the home and offers comfort for when you’re back in from a long outing. The Aēsop Cythera Aromatique fragrance is an interesting one, but if you’re looking for something more affordable, MUJI has some quality fragrant essential oils with aroma stones—a pretty good alternative to a room spray. The aroma stones may be sold out, but hopefully they’ll be back soon enough for a quick purchase.’

@usmaanrzq - Why I Make Documentaries: On Observational Filmmaking by Soda Kazuhiro
‘I think I would like to submit one of my favorite purchases this year, my favorite read so far: Why I Make Documentaries by Soda Kazuhiro. It’s a great gift option for anyone who knows someone who loves to read!’

@ludviglukas - Momo Japanese Milk Glass Mug
‘For a recommendation, I’d go with this one. I think everyone needs a good mug for that morning cup of coffee or tea.’

@dayona.jones - Fashion Oriented Books
‘Both are great starting points for fashion enthusiasts and home sewers to understand garment construction.
I feel like there’s been an obvious shift in small brands who want to control as much as possible in the sampling process, turning to cutting down costs as best as possible in the early steps.
Both books, though from different time periods, will help generate confidence and consciousness of what it takes to make clothing—and make it the right way.’
Both books can be found across various marketplace platforms for a bargain. Happy hunting on these ones!
@intotheindoors - Uniqlo HeatTech Socks
‘I’d suggest the Uniqlo HeatTech Socks! I like them because they’re thick, comfortable, and HeatTech too, so they’re just perfect for the winter. They come in quite a few neutral tones so you can’t really go wrong with them as gifts, since they’re practical! They’d be a great addition to a stocking or a multi-pack can be a gift in itself!’

@weararewe.jpeg - Mountain Research Hat
‘This hat lives rent free in my head. The price point may be steep, but there’s something about it that’s just perfect to me. I’ll hopefully cop soon, but I’d gladly accept it in the meantime. I just love this and know it would make the best gift.’
